James Morrison wasn’t caught earlier this year running around Epping Forest wearing only a strategically-placed oak leaf, smeared in lemon curd and interfering with nature. This, and some musical talent, perfectly qualifies him for his latest challenge: performing in a wood.
In 2010, the singer will be part of the Forestry Commission's live music event where artists perform in spectacular woodland locations around the country. This is part of the Forestry Commission’s charity and awareness-raising initiative where forest clearings are transformed into gigs nestled in the beautiful bosom of Mother Nature herself. It works too, research shows that for 44% of the audience, this is the first time they’ve visited a forest. Admirable stuff, though these city folk will be getting a slightly wonky idea of what forests are about.
James Morrison’s misleadingly titled debut album ‘Undiscovered’ got him some fans and a rep as being not too shabby at this singing/song-writing lark. Album stats are: an impressive two millions sales and five singles from one album. Oh, and he won some awards. His second album did similar groovy things for him.
Now, Morrison sensationally hasn’t revealed that it was all part of his master-plan that would ultimately allow him to realise his dream of playing guitar to an audience of frightened, bewildered forest animals, mostly disinterested plant life and some people.
James Morrison will be performing at:
03 July - Delamere Forest, Delamere, Cheshire.
18 July - Westonbirt Arboretum, Nr Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
Tickets are £31.00 (plus booking fee), and go on sale Friday 18th December at 9am. Click here for James Morrison Tickets
