Pioneering dance duo The Chemical Brothers have announced their return to the live arena with two London shows and a headline performance at Barcelona’s Sonar Festival.
Ending their 18-month break from the music business, The Chemicals will play two shows at London’s Camden Roundhouse on May 20th and 21st and will top the bill at Sonar on June 19th.
After deciding to take a rest after their lengthy live tour in support of their last album, 2007’s ‘We Are The Night’, the announcement of the new shows will be welcomed by fans who have waited a long time for the new live appearances.
Having already headlined the second stage three times at the world-famous Glastonbury festival, the duo Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have previously spoken out about their worry of the long-term effects their loud and lively shows have on their health.
Tom said: ““Playing live is great, the feedback from the audience and all that. The only problem is that I really ruin my health with it. On stage there is the temptation of turning the music louder and louder. It's like a drug and after a show I always end up with ringing ears.”
The Chemical Brothers have a new album due later in 2010 and apparently have “something very special” up their sleeves for these three performances.
The Chemical Brothers will play the following dates:
May 2010
20th and 21st Camden Roundhouse, London
June 2010
19th Sonar Festival, Barcelona
Tickets are available to buy from 9am on Friday February 12th.
