Michael Jackson Memorial To Be Unveiled At London's Lyric Theatre

Hard to think that a year has past us by already however this Sunday will mark the first anniversary of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Sunday June 25th will be the first anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death and, as a memorial to the pop legend, a plaque is to be unveiled at London’s Lyric Theatre this coming Saturday, June 24th.

Last year thousands of fans decended onto the theatre days after news broke of Michael Jackson’s death. The theatre is home to the ‘Thriller Live’ show and during the days following the annoucement of the sad news, fans lay down flowers, candles and other tributes as well as signing 40 books of condelence at the London venue.

The pop icon was scheduled to start performing for his record-breaking 50-date residency at London’s O2 Arena just one week following his death. The unveiling of the memorial plaque is to be attended by TV talent show winners Diversity, who were confirmed to support Michael Jackson prior to his main show.

Also in attendance at the memorial ceremony will be the cast of ‘Thriller Live’, while six members of the cast who have played the role of Jackson will sing a rendition of ‘Speechless – The Tribute’. Incidentally, Jackson’s original version of the song is set to be released later this month with proceeds from sales being donated to the WarChild charity.

With the first anniversary of the popstar’s death only days away, those fans able to travel stateside will be able to pay their respects with temporary access to the singer’s grave at California’s Forest Lawn cemetery.
