Houdini Dax are an indie/rock trio from Cardiff consisting of Jack Butler, David Newington and Owen Richards. The band formed in school where they would hide in the music room writing songs instead of going to lessons.
The band takes it name from a YouTube character they liked in their teens called Dax Flame. In one particular clip the character referred to himself as Houdini Dax. The band liked it, so did drummer Dave's mum, so they decided that would be the name of the band. Houdini Dax are yet to release their debut full length album. However, a crowd-funded new record, ‘Naughty Nation’, is lined up for later this year. Most recently the band premiered their new single Apple Tree, which you can pick up through Jealous Lovers Club on March 1. Following that, Austin beckons for sets at the iconic SXSW, with Focus Wales and the Bristol Ska and Mod festival also scratched into the diary for later in the spring.
