Jon Fratelli, the frontman with Glasgow rockers The Fratellis, is set to play a gig this weekend as part of the Edinburgh leg of the HMV Next Big Thing festival. The show will take place at Edinburgh’s HMV Picture House on Saturday 12th February and support will come from Essex-based five-piece Morning Parade. The date coincides with the release of the new video for Fratelli’s song ‘Rhythm Doesn’t Make You a Dancer’, which is taken from his forthcoming debut solo album. Watch the video below.
The Fratellis went on hiatus in 2009 following the release of their second album ‘Here We Stand’. Both of their albums, including their 2006 debut ‘Costello Music’, made it into the Top Five of the UK Album Chart and they also had a number of hit singles, such as the Top 10 songs ‘Chelsea Dagger’ and ‘Whistle for the Choir’. The band’s drummer Mince Fratelli will be joining his former bandmate onstage at this weekend’s performance. The gig is likely to feature a number of old favourites as well as some tracks from Jon’s new album.
Of the album and the gig, Jon Fratelli has said: “I've made an album that's a mesh of everything that's ever excited me about rock’n’roll. I'm desperate to get out and play these songs for people.”
