Alexandra Burke Departs From Syco Records

Alexandra Burke has departed from Simon Cowell’s record label, signing a new deal with RCA Records, according to reports. The singer, who won the 2008 series of the ‘X Factor’ competition, has departed from Syco for unspecified reasons.

Burke, who reached Number One in the UK albums chart with her debut LP ‘Overcome’, was planning to release her second effort in a joint deal with Syco and RCA. However, it would appear that Burke has now moved away from Cowell’s stable permanently.

Burke is yet to give official confirmation of the news personally, however her brother David Burke seemed keen to validate the rumours on his Twitter account yesterday (June 13th). Speaking on the social networking site, he said: "Really happy Alexandra has officially moved RCA records for new album era. Fingers crossed for progression and improved efficiency"

David Burke continued: "I'd like to thank SyCo for the part they played until this point, but pastures new was required for potential progression going forward."

Reports have suggested that the move was a mutual decision between both Syco and Burke, although no confirmation has been given as of yet. If the news is to be believed, Burke will be following in the footsteps of Joe McElderry and Shayne Ward, both of whom left the music mogul’s label earlier this year.
