'System Of A Down Not Planning New Album Anytime Soon', Says Serj Tankian

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has dashed fans hopes of a new record, by admitting that the band currently have no plans to get back into the studio ahead of their recent tour announcements.
The group reformed last year after an extended hiatus, and performed at festivals across Europe including Download Festival. But, with fans desperate for new material, Tankian and co. haven't given anything away and it's still unclear whether there ever will be a new System of a Down album. Now, Tankian has warned fans that any potential new music won't be coming soon but hasn't written off the possibility of an album in the future.
Speaking to Billboard, the star said: When people are asking, 'When can we get new music from you,' I think it's the biggest compliment in the world. We have not made a plan to do it as of yet. I think it's something that we'll get together at the right time when we all have that head space and do it. But, you know, it hasn't been that time yet, so I think everyone will know when it is. It's as simple as that.
