Alt-J Announced As Winners Of 2012 Mercury Music Prize

Indie quartet Alt-J have just been announced as winners of the 2012 Mercury Music Prize.
Winning the award, which is in its 20th year, for their album 'An Awesome Wave' (check out Stereoboard's review here), Alt-J picked-up the gong at the award ceremony at North London's Camden Roundhouse shortly after 10pm this evening.
Favourites for the award, Alt-J formed at Leeds University in 2007. The group fought off tough competition from the likes of Richard Hawley, Jessie Ware, Django Django and The Maccabees to take home the award.
