The band comprised of Thom Yorke, Joey Waronker, Radiohead co-producer Nigel Godrich, Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist Flea and percussionist Mauro Refosco have confirmed the release of their nine-track “Amok” for early 2013 via XL Recordings.
The English singer-songwriter Thom Yorke formed the band Atoms For Peace as an all-star side project in order to tour his solo work. The band comprised of the head-spinning star lineup began writing and recording their own music, including new single “Default” and now the impending release of their first debut album set to hit XL Recordings, CD, Vinyl and Digital on January 28th 2013.
Yorke revealed the underlying origins of the album, which was recorded over three days in Los Angeles, “When we first hung out, we were at Flea's house. We got wasted, played pool and listened to Fela Kuti all night. It was that idea of trance-ing out. But there are still songs here”. Yorke has also spoken about how he wanted to made a “mechanistic” sounding album surrounding his vocals, "One of the things we were most excited about was ending up with a record where you weren't quite sure where the human starts and the machine ends”.
The supergroup recorded the album following their tour in 2010, with Yorke recently revealing that he would like to tour again soon after their album release.
The track-listing for Atoms For Peace album “Amok” is as follows;
'Before Your Very Eyes…'
'Default'
'Ingenue'
'Dropped'
'Unless'
'Stuck Together Pieces'
'Judge, Jury and Executioner'
'Reverse Running'
'Amok'
