American rockers Queens of the Stone Age have let out even more cryptic clues about their forthcoming new album.
The band have been sending letters to UK music news sites and magazines filled with mysterious messages telling of their progress with the album, and what fans can expect to hear on it.
A constant theme in the messages has been numbers - and in particular, the numbers six and nine (we bet you naughty-minded folk are having a laugh!) - and time, with watches and clocks featuring in the messages’ accompanying images.
This time’s message, which was sent to Kerrang!, reads: “DEAR KERRANG, SOME THINGS YOU CAN'T FIX SO... ON THIS RECORD WE CAME TO A REALIZATION: THE BEST TRICK OF ALL, IS NO TRICK AT ALL.
“THE SONGS ARE A REAL TIME DOCUMENT OF THE MANIC UPS AND DOWNS OF THE LAST YEAR. IT CAN'T ALWAYS RUN LIKE CLOCKWORK. SO RATHER THAN CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE RECORDINGS, WE DECIDED TO RIDE SHOTGUN ON OUR EMOTIONAL BANDWAGON. WE EMBRACED OUR EVIL, HELD THE HORRIBLE, LICKED THE LUNACY AND BLEW THE BEAUTIFUL. AS A RESULT, WE'RE ON CLOUD 9.
“I CAN'T WRITE ANYMORE CAUSE MY PHONE'S DYING, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.”
Some people think that the numbers six and nine suggest that the album may be hitting shelves on June 9th, while others have guessed that the messages’ headers - which include ‘A Stitch in Time Will Save You 9, But..’, ‘You’re Out of Time, Then…’, and of course, ‘Some Things You Can't Fix, So…’ - could be a hint at the album’s title.
What do you think the messages could mean? Let us know your guesses in the comment box below.
