West Ham United Tickets, Fixtures & Matches in 2024/2025Last Updated: 12 Jan 2023 1:25pm
West Ham United Football Club was founded in 1895 by Arnold Hills, the director of the Thames Ironworks shipyard department.
They were originally called Thames Ironworks FC, and it wasn't until five years later they reformed as West Ham United, moving to the Boleyn Ground in Upton Park in 1904, which remained their home ground for more than a century. Their humble beginnings are a big part of the club's history, which is most evident in their nicknames The Hammers and The Irons, as well as in the club's crest, which features a pair of crossed rivet hammers. They joined the Football League in 1919 and currently play their home games at London Stadium, which became the club's new home in 2016. West Ham United have picked up four major trophies in their history; the FA Cup in 1964, 1975 and 1980, along with the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965. That winning team included legendary players such as Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, and Martin Peters, who also won the World Cup with England in 1966.
