Andre Rieu is a Dutch classical composer, conductor and violinist from Maastricht. Starting his music career in 1978, Rieu is known for his part in bringing waltz music to the masses with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, a group which he would tour the world alongside, bridging the gap between old and new and creating fans out of people who perhaps would have shunned classical music otherwise.
Having first picked up a violin at the age of five, Andre Rieu began his fascination with orchestra from a very young age. Fulfilling his childhood dreams, he and his orchestra have performed throughout Europe, in North America, and Asia, and have acquired a number of accolades, including two World Music Awards. Their recordings have gone Gold and Platinum in numerous countries, while he’s considered a music icon in his home country of the Netherlands.
André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra will head to Australia in November 2018, followed by a UK arena tour in December. He also tours Germany in 2019. Catch him live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.
This was the second time this year we had been to see Andre, and this fantastic orchestra, it was a magical evening and absolutely entertaining, uplifting and hilarious at times especially when the audience at the middle section got snowed on! Can't wait till the next time. Thank you Andre and your orchestra.
Thank you so much Andre. Your show in Orlando kept me awake all night - lol - I had my 91 year old Mother with me who has been wanting forever to come and see your music. The night was such a wonderful experience for both of us. All of your musicians and singers are so talented it was incredible. It was so fun to share some laughter and tears with you as you made us feel so good. There is hope for this world yet with people like you in it. God Bless you.
Unmissable, fabulous, uplifting and diverse musical entertainment
Newbury Vue cinema Newbury on July 20 2014
I thought the whole show was wonderful. There was something for everyone. There was classical opera plus music and a song from the Ukraine. The scenery was based on an Italian theme and so was some of the music. The highlight for me was a little girl who was nine years old who had a beautiful voice. I was only in a cinema viewing in Newbury UK but people in the audience were clapping as if they were at the concert. There were no worst moments. It was lovely to see the audiences on screen and to see the way they interacted with Andre and his orchestra.
Wonderful from the minute we glimpsed the snowy xmas trees and decorated stage, to the uproarious cheers as andre appeared to 76 trombones and entranced for the next two and a half hours simply breathtaking, the soprano's and tenors were out of this world. Come back soon andre we miss you.
My daughter treated us to an Andre Rieu show. I was moved to tears by the sheer enjoyment - especially the Strauss pieces. People were dancing in the aisles. The entire evening was so professional, the singers were wonderful. 12 hours later I am on cloud 9 and want to repeat the experience again and again and again.
