Ariana DeBose is an actress, dancer and singer from Wilmington, North Carolina.
First coming into the public eye in 2009 as a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance, she soon migrated to Broadway, appearing in a number of high-profile musicals such as Bring It On: The Musical, Motown, Pippin and Hamilton. However, she is perhaps best known for her role as Anita in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of West Side Story in 2021, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress – she was the first queer woman of colour to receive an Oscar for acting. As well as her Academy Award, she has also earned a host of other huge honours and accolades, including a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and a Tony nomination.
