Released in 1997, Austin Powers a spoof spy film directed by Jay Roach. The first in the series, International Man of Mystery, tells the story of the titular Austin Powers a 1960s secret agent who is woken from cryogenic sleep in the 1990s to stop his arch-nemesis Dr Evil, from his plan to take over the world.

Mike Myers plays both Powers and Dr Evil, alongside co-stars Elizabeth Hurley, Robert Wagner and Seth Green, with guest appearances from Will Ferrell, Mimi Rogers, Carrie Fisher and Burt Bacharach.

The film grossed almost 50 million worldwide upon its release and spawned two sequels: The Spy Who Shagged Me in 1999 and Goldmember in 2003.

The score for Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, and both of its sequels, were composed by the criitcally acclaimed, Grammy and Emmy Award nominated George S. Clinton.
