Belly are an American alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, consisting of former Throwing Muses and the Breeder member Tanya Donelly, Thomas Gorman, Chris Gorman and Gail Greenwood, who replaced Fred Abong.

Formed in 1991, the band released their debut EP, ‘Slow Dust’, in 1992, with the single Feed the Tree reaching the Top 40 in the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album, ‘Star’, came out the following year and hit #2 in the UK Albums Chart. The band were nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Performance at the 1994 Grammy Awards.

The band’s second album, ’King’, came out in 1995, and the band appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The band toured with Radiohead, and supported REM, as well as headlining their own USA and UK tours, before splitting in 1996.

Belly reformed in 2016 and announced USA, UK, and Ireland tours later in the year.
