The Blind Boys of Alabama are an American gospel and blues group hailing from - you guessed it - Alabama! Founded by Jimmy Carter, Clarence Fountain, and the now unfortunately deceased Johnny Fields, George Scott, Olice Thomas, and Vel Bozman Traylor, who first sang together in 1944, it now consists of Carter and Fountain (health-allowing) alongside Ben Moore, Eric ‘Ricky’ McKinnie, Joey Williams, Tracy Pierce, and Peter Levin.
The Blind Boys of Alabama are hands down one of the most successful and longest-standing vocal gospel groups of all-time, having won no less than five Grammy awards - including one Lifetime Achievement gong - and secured a place in the Gospel Hall of Fame.
