Hello! Welcome to issue one of In With The New, which will collect slabs of good stuff for your listening pleasure on a semi-regular basis. Here we’ve stayed close to home with just a few Welsh bands that have impressed us in recent months. Plug in them headphones, folks.
Luvv – Two
Who? Cardiff post-punk types
What do they sound like? Post-binge nihilism (with hooky guitar lines).
Falling With Style – Half Measures
Who? Ponty post-hardcore troupe
What do they sound like? The mid-2000s, in a good way.
Delyth McLean – Tad a Mab
Who? Folk-pop singer-songwriter with an ear for lilting melodies
What does she sound like? Brooding atmospherics cut with classic songwriting. Also worth checking out this Roughion remix of Lost In Sound over at Wales Online.
Cavalry – Mexico
Who? Cardiff alt-rock quartet with strong beard game.
What do they sound like? A band with hooks to fill some big rooms. Currently writing new material, so eyes peeled.
