On September 25, 1980, John Bonham died after inhaling his own vomit following a day of heavy drinking. He was 32. The drummer had been rehearsing for Led Zeppelin’s forthcoming US tour when he imbibed an estimated 40 measures of vodka across a 12 hour period, according to the Guardian. Zeppelin would disband soon after his death.
