On June 23, 1929 June Carter Cash, American singer, dancer, songwriter, member of the Carter Family and the second wife of Johnny Cash, was born. She died on May 15, 2003 aged 73 following complications from heart surgery.

Also born on this day were Alan Vega of Suicide, who sadly passed away in 2016, and Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall.
