On March 7, 1998 Madonna hit #1 on the UK singles chart with Frozen. The track featured on her ‘Ray Of Light’ album, which came out the same year.
So, as Christmas Day edges ever closer our countdown of the year’s top 50 best-selling artists on Stereoboard’s Hot Ticket Chart gets underway. We’ve been working our way from the bottom up, counting through 10 a day, until we hit top spot and crown the successors to One Direction, who took top spot in 2014. Make sure to check back throughout the week to see who’s in the running for a Stereoboard Christmas #1. If you missed it, you can check out Part One here.
Well, she’s done it, Adele has bagged yet another #1 and reached the top of Stereoboard’s Hot Ticket Chart. Following closely behind is fellow “hello” singer Lionel Richie and at #3 Rihanna. That leaves last week’s chart-toppers, Coldplay, at #4.
Making an impressive climb up the chart this week is Madonna, progressing from #20 to #12. Also creeping up the chart and making it into the top 10 is Elton John. Though, what goes up, must come down and Stereophonics have slid from third position down to #10 and Rod Stewart from #6 to #16.
Last week we saw a lot of big hitters go on sale and we thought it unlikely it could be topped. However, Justin Bieber and Billy Joel decided to announce shows, along with Russell Howard, Elton John and Lionel Richie adding extra dates to their already announced tours. Check in with us next week to see if any of them have been able to steal the top spot from Adele.
