Things We Love This Week

Shout it from the rooftops, people: it’s almost the weekend. I require a beer, some form of bar snack and to be left alone for long periods of the next two days. Going to do some sitting down, some reading, probably eat shameful food and watch shit TV. Leggo!

Anyway, here are some things that tickled our fancy this week…

This Drowned in Sound feature by Falco from Future of the Left on reforming mclusky (ish) in aid of the lovely Le Pub in Newport is just great. Good cause, too, so hands in pockets for their campaign to soundproof the venue’s roof. Just a few awesome shows they’ve got on soon: Masked Intruder, Chris Farren, Tim Barry/Cory Branan/Sam Russo.

Restorations – Misprint

‘LP3’ is shaping up to be a bear hug of a rock record. Really, you should look into this immediately, if not sooner. Check it out via the folks at Stereogum.

Black Tower – Secret Fire

This punk/NWOBHM/black metal hybrid arrives courtesy of members of Crusades, the Visitors and the Creeps, who are all great. It’s out early next year, but you can check out their demo now. Crusades’ second album, ‘Perhaps You Deliver This Judgment with Greater Fear Than I Receive It’, finished at #3 on our punk records of 2013. Hat tip to Punknews.

Flying Lotus – Coronus, The Terminator

Just a couple of weeks left until Flying Lotus rolls out ‘You’re Dead’ and it’s sounding pretty bloody good. Coronus, The Terminator is a trippy little treat.
