Tour Of The Week: Elton John

Elton John will bring his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour to the UK next summer. Elton John tickets are on sale now, priced from £45.00 plus booking fees.

Either side of his previously confirmed shows at Dublin’s 3Arena, the legendary singer-songwriter will perform at Hove Central County Ground on June 9 and Cardiff City Stadium on June 15, following spring dates across mainland Europe.

“I am very happy to announce the launch of my UK Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour with concerts in Hove and Cardiff,” John said. “The audiences in the South Coast and Wales have always been some of the most welcoming and exciting I have played in front of over the past forty-two years and the band and I are so excited to say goodbye in the most fantastic way. It’s going to be amazing!

“My priorities have changed in my life. My priorities now are my children, my husband, my family. I thought the time is right to say thank you to my fans and say goodbye, ” John said about his decision to stop touring. “In 2015, David and I sat down with a school schedule and I thought, I don’t want to miss too much of this. It doesn’t mean I’m not going to be creative, I’m just not going to tour anymore.”

After 50 years of performing around the world, the legendary singer-songwriter confirmed his retirement from the road at a live-streamed event in New York at the start of the year, announcing that he plans to play over 300 concerts in multiple countries for the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which kicked off in North America earlier this month and is set to run until 2021 with UK and European shows in 2019.

Basement will be joined by Joyce Manor for a UK this autumn. Basement tickets are on sale now, priced £16.00/£18.00 plus booking fees.

The Ipswich post-hardcore band took to Twitter last week to announce their first run of dates in a long time, with stops lined up in Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, Southampton, Bristol and London, where they’ll perform at the O2 Forum. They also teased fans with a promise of new music from upcoming fourth album, ‘Beside Myself’, which will arrive on October 12 through Fueled By Ramen.

“We’re very excited to be returning to the UK for our first headliner in a long time and we’re bringing new music and our friends in Joyce Manor.”

Formed in 2009, Basement made their debut three years later with ‘I Wish I Could Stay Here’ on Run For Cover Records. The follow up arrived in the shape of ‘Colourmeinkindness’ before the band split in 2012, returning in 2014 with the release of their ‘Further Sky’ EP and their last full length, 2016’s ‘Promise Everything’.

Californian outfit Joyce Manor, meanwhile, recently announced the release of ‘Million Dollars to Kill Me’. Their fifth full length and the follow up to 2016’s ‘Cody’ was produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou and is set to arrive on September 21 through Epitaph Records.
