Cameo are a funk and soul band from New York City, New York.

Formed in 1974, they are perhaps best recognised for their 1986 LP ‘Word Up!’, which features their hit single of the same name. Reaching Top 10 both sides of the pond and earning them a platinum certification, it is still regarded as one of the most popular R&B/funk tracks of all time, and has been covered by artists ranging from Korn to Mel B to Little Mix.

They have now released a total of 17 albums to date, with the most recent being 2000's 'Sexy Sweet Thing'.
