Having just returned from their stunning performance at Scotland’s T in the Park festival, Muse have told the NME that they could be starting work on their sixth studio album as early as next year.
The band’s bassist, Chris Wolstenholme, revealed the news while speaking to the NME about the band’s forthcoming time-off following the end of their current world tour that climaxes with a show in Perth, Australia on 19th December.
Reassuring fans that Muse will be back, he broke the news that “we'll definitely start working on a new album next year." Explaining the reasoning behind the band’s time-off, the bassist said, “It’s something we've never done. I think the most time we've had off is about six weeks in the last 12 years, so we're due a break."
Speaking prior to the band’s headline performance at T in the Park festival, Wolstenholme also commented on Muse’s stateside acceptance from American music fans. "With America it was something we never really expected to happen, so I think it was one of those things we really appreciated, hopefully it'll carry on."
It has been a phenomenal year for Muse who are now established as one of the biggest bands in the world. Not only have they appeared on the soundtrack for the latest “Twilight” film, they were also invited to play a breathtaking headline set at Glastonbury’s 40th Anniversary Festival last month.
Muse have still nine more festival appearances to tick-off this summer, they then play a two night stint at Wembley Stadium in September, which will mark their first return to the venue since 2007.
