Movie-making mogul Martin Scorsese has announced his next film, a documentary-film about the life and times of The Beatles’ guitarist George Harrison.

George Harrison was a singer, songwriter and guitarist in one of the world’s most famous pop bands ever, The Beatles. Often referred to as “the quiet Beatle”, Harrison played a key role in broadening the horizons of his fellow band-mates as well as their western audience.

Propelled by his love of George Harrison’s work, Martin Scorsese is planning to cover Harrison’s entire life in a documentary film, using unseen footage, photographs and music from the musician.

Teaming up with Harrison’s widow, Olivia, who has been a huge help in the research stage of production, Scorsese spoke about his pleasure in working on the forthcoming new film. "His music is very important to me, so I was interested in the journey that he took as an artist. The film is an exploration.”

Talking of the friendship between Scorsese and Harrison, Olivia said, "Marty had a connection with George, and they spent some time together. He is as passionate about film and music as George was passionate about music and film."

The documentary is scheduled for release sometime next year.
