Having already previewed their new material at recent shows, Kings of Leon look set to release their new album later this year in October.
The album will be the band’s fifth studio release and will follow-up their ‘Only By The Night’ album that was released in 2008 and dropped massive hits such as ‘Sex on Fire’ and ‘Use Somebody’.
Just over a month ago Kings of Leon played their biggest headline show to date at London’s Hyde Park. The four-piece group played to a sell-out crowd of 60,000 on Wednesday 30th June and showcased four new songs with frontman Caleb Followill telling the crowd, “Since we saw you guys last we went and made a record.”
Continuing, Followill announced that the four new songs were only aired to their record label the day before the gig. “Just yesterday some people at the record label got to hear a couple of songs from it. I don’t know if they want us to play a bunch of new songs but I think, ‘Fuck it’ – we’re going to do it!”
The new songs played at the show were entitled ‘Southbound’, ‘Immortals’, ‘Mary’ and ‘Radioactive’, with all four tracks being warmly received by the masses. Kings of Leon have since had their wrists slapped by management for playing the new songs at their shows.
