Rory Attwell, a former member of Lightspeed Champion’s old band Test Icicles, has confirmed details of his debut solo album ‘Old Volcanoes’, which is due for release on 1st August under the name Warm Brains. Attwell will be taking Warm Brains on tour in July and August around the time of the album’s release – see below for dates and tickets.
Rory Attwell founded Test Icicles in 2004 with fellow members Sam Mehran and Devonte Hynes, who later went on to launch his own solo career under the name Lightspeed Champion. Test Icicles released one album entitled ‘For Screening Purposes Only’ in 2005 before disbanding the following year. Following the split, Attwell joined the post-punk quartet KASMs before announcing his intention to begin a solo project upon his departure from that band last year. Attwell has also previously worked as a producer for artists including Male Bonding, Fair Ohs, TEETH, S.C.U.M, Veronica Falls, Cold Pumas and Holy State.
‘Old Volcanoes’, the debut album from Warm Brains was recorded last year at Pallet Recording Studio, which Attwell co-runs with Tom Vek. Pallett was also the location that recording took place for Vek’s second album ‘Leisure Sezuire’, which was released last month. Aside from a few vocal contributions, Attwell wrote, produced and performed all of the tracks on ‘Old Volcanoes’.
