KT Tunstall Shares The River From Upcoming Sixth Studio Album 'Wax'

Thursday, 23 August 2018 Written by Jon Stickler

KT Tunstall has announced her sixth album, 'Wax', and shared a new song, The River.

The arresting song is accompanied by a lyric video directed by Bruno Downey, which you can view alongside the artwork for 'Wax' below. Discussing the song, the Suddenly I See singer said: "It’s about wanting to escape the madness in the world, escaping bad relationships, and wanting to be washed clean - emancipation through nature".

The follow up to 2016's 'Kin' is set to land via Virgin Records on October 5 and was produced by Nick McCarthy, a founding member of Franz Ferdinand, with co-production from duo MyRiot. It's the second in a trilogy of releases from Tunstall that explore "themes of spirit, body, and mind". This album focuses on the body. She said:

"I knew before I started writing that I wanted it to be an electric guitar record. It had to be visceral, about the physical, and the obstacles of that. It’s a record about human-ness, which we so often just write off as 'flaws'. Wax evokes colonies of bees, candlelight, the material that the first long-playing records were made of, but more than that, wax is produced inside your own head."

This September, Tunstall is set to perform sold out shows in London, Bristol and Edinburgh.

Primal Scream continue to divide opinion. As a ‘90s indie band they are a bit of an also-ran: a group who produced some excellent music while being outshone by bands who had more consistency across membership and sound like Blur, Oasis and Pulp.

Twenty One Pilots - Trench (Album Review)
Mon 08 Oct 2018
In 2015, Twenty One Pilots got their big break. The Ohioans’ fourth album, ‘Blurryface’, summited the US chart and sent two singles into similarly rarefied air. The following year another song, Heathens, ushered in the soundtrack to the hit film, Suicide Squad. The resulting period has seen the band ascend to arena-filling stardom and paved the way for ‘Trench’, a record that combines their distinctive blend of elaborate production with re-upped nu-metal.
