Creeper Return With New Single Born Cold, Confirm Support Slot At Babymetal's UK Shows

Monday, 04 November 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Creeper have returned with a new track.

Born Cold is the first new material to emerge from the goth punks since their 2017 'Christmas' EP and since in 2018 they announced they would be bringing the era of their debut album, 'Eternity, In Your Arms', to an end. Vocalist Will Gould said:

"This song is the introduction of one of the more villainous characters from our new story. It was inspired by what the Thin White Duke was for David Bowie – a more selfish, narcissistic character.”

The Southampton band, who performed in London on November 1 under the moniker Fugitives Of Heaven, wrote and recorded the new song during sessions in Hollywood and their hometown. Gould added:

“CREEPER was always about theatrics and cinema; as much about the aesthetic as the music. So we took it to Hollywood and made it in the shadow of some of our favourite films, where some classic records have been made, and let it become something else. In ‘Born Cold’, you can hear the DNA of the band and listen to it be transformed with the addition of some of the new elements that we’ve added to the process.”

The grandiosity of the punk rock track is a sterling introduction to the sextet's new era, and sets the bar high for their next release.

Alongside Born Cold, the band have also announced that they'll be supporting Babymetal at their UK shows in February. Head here for tickets.
