Producer, drummer and Warpaint member Stella Mozgawa has joined forces with Los Angeles producer Boom Bip for a new project called Belief.

The pair met more than ten years ago when Mozgawa initially moved from Australia to LA, and they bonded over a mutual love of techno.

In 2013, Bryan Charles Hollon (aka Boom Pip) then asked Mozgawa on tour to drum for his Neon Neon project. Three years later they entered Eric Wareheim’s Absolutely Studios with all the gear they owned to jam around a single prompt, "What Would Mark Bell Do?".

The duo tracked hours of improvised material and have spent the last five years developing the music and workshopping it live at small shows under the moniker Beef.

I Want To Be is the first taster of the Belief project, and deals in captivating electronic-led beats and melodies. Boom Bip said:

"We chose ‘I Want To Be’ as the first single because of its anthemic synth hook. It felt like an opening. The simple message "i want to be" grabbed us right away because it can be applied to nearly anyone’s plight or situation to push forward."

Warpaint are due to tour the UK and Europe in May, and have teased that a new album is due this year, though no further details have been confirmed.

Boom Bip's last album, meanwhile, was 2016's 'Sun Choke', though he did release a deluxe version of his 2005 album 'Blue Eyes in the Red Room' last year.
