Glass Animals Announce New Album 'I Love You So F***ing Much', Unveil First Single

Wednesday, 03 April 2024 Written by Laura Johnson

Glass Animals have announced a new album.

'I Love You So F***ing Much' will be released on July 19 through Polydor. It was written while frontman, songwriter and producer Dave Bayley was experiencing what he describes as an existential crisis, following the newfound fame that came from the success of the Oxford band's previous album, 2020's 'Dreamland'. He explained:

“Life can change dramatically, but sometimes you aren’t able to change as quickly on a personal level. You end up feeling like a spectator. And then you are asked and expected to be a certain type of person, a different person. But…I wasn’t sure how. It confused me to the point of not knowing who I was or if anything was real.”

Alongside details of the record, the quartet have shared its first single, Creatures In Heaven, a romantic indie-pop song with emotive lyrics: "I don't see the point in a subtle romance, Ten tonne heart ache sitting on your back, Scared of the crack where the light comes through, I’m only really me when I’m here with you". In a statement about the track, Bayley continued:

"Are you here in the moment? Be in the moment. “It’s about a moment in time, be it a split second or a year or whatever, having the capacity to be enormously formative and life-changing. Even if it is over. Or if it doesn’t go as planned. Or if it dies too soon. It is still fucking beautiful. The love and care and the feeling in that moment lives forever. It never really dies. If that’s how you choose to see it.”

Glass Animals will play sold-out intimate pop-up shows at Pappy + Harriet’s, California and in Mexico City on April 11 and 15, respectively.
