Fontaines D.C. have laid out plans for their fourth studio album.
The Dublin five-piece have signed a deal with XL Recordings for the follow-up to 2022's 'Skinty Fia', with 'Romance' set for release on August 23. It also marks their first time recording with producer James Ford, best known for his work with Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode and Blur. Guitarist Conor Deegan said of the record's title:
"We've always had this sense of idealism and romance. Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as directly as 'Dogrel'. The second album is about that detachment, and the third is about Irishness dislocated in the diaspora. Now we look to where and what else there is to be romantic about."
Alongside the news, the band have shared the new single Starburster, which expands their sonic palette, pulling influences from multiple genres and marking a notable switch in style, with the quintet debuting an uptempo disco-rock sound.
