Released via Atlantic Records, the track kicks off the next chapter for the Florida rockers and was first performed last month during their debut show at the iconic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time, frontman Brent Smith told the audience:
"Sometimes when you listen close enough to the universe and you’re willing to receive something from it- a song can come out of thin air. We didn’t find this one, it found us."
Co-written by Smith, Shinedown bassist Eric Bass and songwriter Dave Bassett, it showcases the band's signature emotional and anthemic rock sound while infusing country-style instrumentation, including violins, steel pedal guitars and banjo.
Posting on Instagram, Smith wrote: "This is a song about owning your true feelings. It’s an awakening of the soul. Lyrically, it’s a coming-of-age story that celebrates the moment you decide to go out into the world, and find your purpose. Musically it’s an homage to all the music our parents, and grandparents brought us up on. It is a love letter to Americana, Rhythm and Blues, Bluegrass, Outlaw Country, and of course Rock ‘n’ Roll. The creative process for this song was quite a journey, and we hope all the “Fans/Family” feel that authenticity in every note, and every word."
In the summer, Shinedown released Killing Fields, which followed their two January singles, Three Six Five and Dance, Kid Dance, the latter inspiring the name of their spring and summer North American tour.
The band, whose latest album is 2022's 'Planet Zero', will join the upcoming iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, hitting Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on December 2, Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on December 8, Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan on December 9, and Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. on December 16.
