Dermot Kennedy Shares New Single Refuge From Upcoming Album 'The Weight Of The Woods'

Dermot Kennedy has shared a second single from his upcoming album.
Blending passionate songwriting with sweeping, atmospheric production, the acoustic guitar-driven Refuge offers a further glimpse into the Irish singer-songwriter's third LP, 'The Weight of the Woods', due out on March 27 via Island Records. Commenting on the track, Kennedy explained:
"I like the ‘died trying’ lyric, because it reminds me of 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin. On stage, I’ll feel supremely confident…Nobody can shake me. I think the people who are close to me will view me as solid and strong, but it’s not always the case. Gabe brought the vulnerability out of me. Instead of asking what I wanted to write about, he took my notebook and started reading it. All of my feelings were on display."
Written and recorded near his home in rural Ireland with long-time collaborator Gabe Simon, alongside a stay in Nashville, Tennessee, the album was introduced by Kennedy last month with its lead single Funeral.
He'll support the LP with his biggest headline tour yet this spring and early summer, playing across Europe before six UK arena shows, including a return to The O2 in London on June 5 and two Dublin hometown shows at the Aviva Stadium on July 11 and 12. Tickets are on sale now.
