Ringo Starr Announces New T Bone Burnett-Produced Album 'Long Long Road'

Tuesday, 03 March 2026 Written by Jon Stickler

Ringo Starr has announced a new album.

'Long Long Road' is set for release on April 24 and marks the former Beatles drummer's second collaborative project with producer T Bone Burnett, following last year's 'Look Up'. Like its predecessor, the 10-track album is rooted in country and Americana.

Co-produced by Daniel Tashian and Bruce Sugar, it was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with many of the same backing musicians who played on 'Look Up' — Paul Franklin, David Mansfield, Dennis Crouch, Daniel Tashian, Rory Hoffman, Patrick Warren and Colin Linden, a group Burnett affectionately calls The Texans, after the Liverpool band Starr played with in the late '50s.

Six songs were written or co-written by Burnett, two by Starr and Sugar, one by Starr, Mark Hudson and Gary Burr, and another by Bernie Benjamin and George David Weiss, originally recorded by Carl Perkins. The record also features several high-profile guest appearances, including collaborations with Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow and St Vincent. Starr said:

"I’m blessed to have T Bone in my life right now and working with me on these records. After we did the last record, which I love listening to, this one just sort of happened. I like to say sometimes I make the right moves, like you can go left or right at any point, and one of the right moves was hooking up with T Bone for Look Up, and now for this one, which I’m calling Long Long Road, because I’ve been on a long long road."

Burnett shared: "I've loved Ringo’s playing and his singing for my whole life. And then one night we were at a poetry reading together and he said, why don't you write a song for me? So I wrote him a Gene Autry type song because I always heard Ringo as a Texas artist, the way he played felt just like Texas music to me.

"Ringo Starr is a recording artist of the highest caliber, and I wanted to surround him with these young masters, bringing in some of this extraordinary young energy that's happening around Nashville for both of these records."

Alongside the announcement, Starr has shared a new single, It's Been Too Long, a rootsy country-rock offering built on strummed guitars and a steady beat, with backing harmonies from both Molly Tuttle and Sarah Jarosz.

Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band will take the album on tour across the US this spring. Tickets are on sale now.

In February last year, Starr made his Grand Ole Opry debut after being invited by Emmylou Harris during the first of his two star-studded shows at the Ryman Auditorium, which was recorded for a two-hour special currently streaming on CBS/Paramount Plus. A month later, Starr released a digital single of the Beatles classic With a Little Help From My Friends, recorded live at the Ryman as each night's closing performance.
