Jessie Ware - Superbloom (Album Review)

Monday, 20 April 2026 Written by Chris Connor

Jessie Ware’s ‘That! Feels Good!’ seemed like an arrival of sorts for Jessie Ware, offering a perfect encapsulation of her sound five albums in. Its deft blend of pop, disco and more earned some of the best reviews of her career to date, leaving her sixth LP ‘Superbloom’ with a lot to live up to.

It does so by cannily building on the sonic textures of its predecessor, delivering another magnetic representation of Ware’s charm beyond her sideline as a superstar podcaster, channelling artists of the past while maintaining a distinctly modern sensibility.

Lead single I Could Get Used To This brings plenty of energy, putting Ware’s powerhouse vocals front and centre. It’s a statement.

But the title track takes a slightly different approach, with Ware pulling of its more soulful, classic R&B groove with aplomb. There is an irresistible, timeless quality to it, and it is sure to become an instant fan favourite.

Automatic features a spoken word intro from the actor Colman Domigno, its funky energy matched with a curveball midsection that incorporates flutes and a lounge-jazz feel.

Sauna dips back into Ware’s electronica past, its backing vocals recalling Dua Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia’ record, while also feeling like her take on The Pointer Sisters and other ‘80s dance icons — it’s easy to see it filling a packed dancefloor on a Friday night. Ride, too, taps into the celebratory sound of winding down for the weekend. It’s a real tour de force.

As with ‘That! Feels Good!’, there is so much energy and passion on display it is hard not to root for Ware. This is another ambitious work, drawing from a wide range of influences while remaining distinctly her own. Far from simply feeling like an extension of the sounds found on her previous records, Ware pushes forward in surprising, rewarding directions. This is the sound of an artist in full control, growing with each release.
