Brian Fallon has announced his first original solo album in over five years.

The Gaslight Anthem frontman will release 'Not Bad For New Jersey' through his own Lesser Known Records digitally on September 10, with a physical release following the day after.

Produced by longtime collaborator Butch Walker, known for his work with Green Day, Jesse Malin and Taylor Swift, and recorded mostly live at Walker's studio on the outskirts of Nashville, the album sees Fallon joined by several special guests, including Brandon Flowers from The Killers, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, guitarist Marc Ribot and country singer Lori McKenna, with Walker contributing bass, piano and backing vocals, and Eric Slick on drums.

"From the start, I knew I had to fully embrace the passion and craziness of these songs I was inspired by — there wasn’t much room for subtlety," Fallon said, citing Bryan Adams' Run To You and The Police's Every Breath You Take as key influences.

"There was a lot of childlike joy in writing and recording these songs. The whole album came together very naturally, with a level of creative satisfaction I hadn’t felt in a long time."

To mark the announcement, the American singer-songwriter has released the new single Pearls, a melancholic yet inspiring track aimed at people born into privilege. He explained:

"I’ve never been one to resent anybody for having certain advantages in life, and I don’t think there’s anything inherently pure in having to struggle. But I do think there’s real value in overcoming the odds stacked against you, because getting to the point of feeling like you’re actually worth something is one of the toughest mountains to climb."

The album will also include Fallon's earlier singles, Better Before and the title track, both of which dropped last month.

He'll celebrate the album with intimate shows in Asbury Park, Nashville, West Hollywood and Chicago over the next couple of weeks, accompanied by his backing band The Painkillers, before an appearance at Riot Fest in Chicago in September. Head here for details. Tickets are on sale now.

Fallon released his last studio album, 'Local Honey', in 2020, followed by 2021's 'Night Divine', a set of hymns he recorded at home during the COVID-19 lockdown. The Gaslight Anthem, meanwhile, returned from their hiatus with 'History Books' in 2023, their sixth full-length album and first in nine years.
