Moses Boyd Announces Second Album 'Songs For Sinners' Alongside Spring UK And European Tour Dates

Moses Boyd has announced his long-awaited second album, his first in six years.

The Mercury Prize-shortlisted, MOBO Award-winning South London drummer, composer and producer will release 'Songs For Sinners' through Exodus on October 30, following 2020's 'Dark Matter'.

The deeply personal project explores faith through gospel, jazz, soundsystem culture, Caribbean rhythms, 808s and choir harmonies, drawing on Boyd's church upbringing and London's soundsystem scene. He explained:

"The hardest I've worked on any music and definitely the most I've poured myself into a body of work. Songs For Sinners is a sound I've wanted to create since I got into music. Being surrounded by Gospel music my whole life then finding my way through Jazz and sound system culture. I'm extremely proud I've managed to execute the vision I had."

The announcement comes alongside a new single, Criticise, featuring London-based vocalist Amber-Simone, which blends funk and jazz elements with powerful vocals and explores judgement and hypocrisy in people's experiences with faith. The album will also include Boyd's earlier single Say Yeah, which dropped in July.

Boyd will support the record with a UK and European tour next spring, including shows in Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton and London between March 27 and April 1. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (September 4).

Since his last album, Boyd has released several singles and collaborative EPs, most recently putting out 'Opening Time', a collaborative album with Greg Foat and Jihad Darwish, last year.
