Mike + The Mechanics have announced UK and European shows for next year.
Originally formed by Mike Rutherford as a "side project" to Genesis, the band, completed by Andrew Roachford, Tim Howar, Luke Juby, Anthony Drennan and Nic Collins, will play shows across the UK and Germany next spring.
Scheduled across two legs, the tour will kick off on May 8 in Harrogate before heading to Birmingham, Swansea and Bath, followed by dates across Germany between May 14 and June 4. The band will then return to the UK for a performance at London's Royal Albert Hall on June 7 before stops in Glasgow, Manchester, Gateshead, Sheffiled, Liverpool and Brighton. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday (September 25).
“It occurred to me when we started talking about this tour that the core of this line up is the longest standing we have had with The Mechanics," Rutherford said: "It is absolute testament to Roach, Tim, Luke and Anthony that we are going back on the road again - they are wonderful musicians and wonderful people, and the way Nic slotted in not only brought down the bands average age quite considerably, but brings a different energy, which has been a real cherry on the cake! I can’t wait to be doing this again, I honestly don’t think we would if it wasn’t for these gentlemen, 17 years have flown by! We look forward to seeing you soon.”
Known for classic songs The Living Years, All I Need Is A Miracle and Over My Shoulder, the band released their most recent studio album, 'Out Of The Blue', in 2019. Last year, they put out the greatest hits compilation record 'Looking Back – Living The Years' and embarked on a tour of the same name celebrating 40 years of the band.
