Dare are a rock band from Oldham, England formed in 1985, fronted by Thin Lizzy keyboard player Darren Wharton.
Thin Lizzy toured around the globe while Wharton was only just 17, but after they disbanded, he began to write, sing and produce his own songs. After recruiting young guitarist, Vinny Burns, it wasnt long before Dare were getting noticed by the major labels. In 1987 Dare were signed by A&M records.
Their debut album, 'Out of the Silence', was released in 1988 on A&M Records. Dare had minor success in Europe, but album sales flagged and the band was dropped from their label after their second album 'Blood from Stone' in 1991.
The original lineup included guitarist Vinny Burns who went on to feature in a host of other bands including Ultravox, Asia and Ten as well as releasing solo material. Another member of the original lineup was Brian Cox who played keyboards on 'Out of the Silence' and 'Blood From Stone', but he later played with D:Ream before becoming a particle physicist and science communicator.
The band continues to this day, but have to some extent departed from their hard rock and melodic rock roots, and now feature a heavy Celtic influence.
They are now set o tour the UK in 2018 with Danish metal outfit FM. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
