Deacon Blue are a Scottish rock pop band from Glasgow, currently consisting of singers Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh, keyboard-player James Prime, and drummer Dougie Vipond, who were originally joined by Ewen Vernal and Graeme Kelling too.
Formed in 1985, the band released their debut album, ‘Raintown’, in 1987, which hit #14 in the UK Album Chart. Their second album, ‘When the World Knows Your Name’, came out in 1989 and reached the top spot in the chart, as did their greatest hits collection, ‘Our Town’, in 1994. Both their third and fourth albums, ‘Fellow Hoodlums’, in 1991, and, ‘Whatever You Say, Say Nothing’, in 1993, reached the top five before the band split in 1994. Returning in 1999, they have released a handful of albums, their latest being, ‘Believers’ in 2016, and a live album in 2017.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK, including a full UK tour in support of their 25th anniversary in 2012, as well as a series of Forest Live shows and a Jockey Club Live show at Aintree Racecourse in May 2016.
Deacon Blue have confirmed a 30th Anniversary To Be Here Someday Tour at venues across the UK throughout November an December.
