Foals are an English indie-rock band from Oxford, consisting of Yannis Philippakis, Jack Bevan, Jimmy Smith, Walter Gervers and Edwin Congreave.
Getting together in 2005, the band was formed out of the ashes of math-rock bands the Edmund Fitzgerald and Face Meets Grill. After the band's members decided to take music seriously and drop out of university to focus on it properly, they signed a deal with Transgressive Records and went on to put out their debut album, 'Antidotes' in 2008, which peaked at #3 in the UK Albums Chart. 2010 saw the band’s second effort, 'Total Life Forever', hit #8 in the UK Albums Chart, The band’s third LP, 2013's 'Holy Fire', hit #2 in the UK and became their first to chart in the US. It was then that their tours began to gain real traction, and in August 2015 Foals released 'What Went Down', supporting it with an arena tour in the UK, US and Europe. Foals took a hiatus before they dropped two albums in 2019: 'Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost'. Part one saw a release in March, with part two following in October. They've headlined and performed at a variety of festivals, including Reading and Leeds Festival, Citadel, Glastonbury, Bestival, Parklife, Truck and more. Arena venues just around the corner...

Having seen a hundreds of bands performing in a variety of different venues, its not often you get to witness something as special as Foals' show at Bristol Academy.
Taking the stage to Prelude, we are treated to a set full of material from their back catalogue, including a lot from latest album 'Holy Fire'. Olympic Airways, Spanish Sahara, the live debut of Bad Habit, fan favourite Cassius and Inhaler - triggering one of the biggest crowd surfing sessions of the evening.
Its only a matter of time until they step up to arena venues.
