Grandmaster Flash, real name Joseph Saddler, is an American hip-hop and breakbeat producer and DJ hailing from South Bronx, New York.
Born in Barbados in 1958, he is one of the pioneering forces in the old skool hip-hop and funk genres, and even in DJing itself. One of the first to truly cut and mix tunes with finesse, he became a household name throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and remains a legendary figure in the scene to this day. He was the first hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside the Furious Five in 2007. Grandmaster Flash has UK shows planned in 2019.
