While She Sleeps Talk About Their Slam Dunk Festival Experience

Following the release of their monstrous news single 'This Is The Six', Sheffield’s While She Sleeps were in action at Slam Dunk Festival last week. Preparing for the release of their highly anticipated new album of the same name, 'This Is The Six', out on Search and Destroy Records on August 6th, check out what the guys thought about their Slam Dunk experience below.

ImageBand guitarist and vocalist Mat Welsh comments: "Getting free time to watch bands at a festival your playing is sometimes harder than it seems, your day gets crammed with press, load in, trying to socialize with people around, sell merch & just generally run round like a mad head.

Typically, Slam Dunk Festival had a line up I couldn’t bear to miss, something we were all very appreciative to be part of.

I managed to catch a few bands who I can safely say were all thoroughly impressive. Gallows in particular stood out for me, as I was intrigued to see how the new line up performed. Now fronted byAlexisonfire’s Wade MacNeil on vocals, I think its safe to say they fucking smashed it. Frank Carter was always going to be a hard act to follow; however Wade did the bands anarchic live show complete justice. Providing a refreshing change in vocals but still keeping that rough gallows vibe.

Playing both old tracks and new material the show retained total energy throughout. It’s awesome to see a band pushing a total no bullshit live show and keeping the punk side of so many people alive."

While bassist Aaran added: "This weekend Every time I die really topped the bill for me. They came on with unbelievable amounts of energy from the start that never let up until the end! They played all the classics with the crowd singing back every line with passion. Truely amazing live band."

While She Sleeps are currently demolishing venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, with an anticipated performance at Donington's Download Festival this weekend. The list of dates is as follows - more shows to be announced soon:

Back to Slam Dunk, talking about Architects, guitarist Sean Long said: "Architects are a seriously talented band thatnever seem disappoint in there live set. Its safe to say that when i saw them at Slam Dunk, i sometimes cant understand how one band can be so tight! The room was filled to the brim and im sure there was plenty of crazy moshers that couldn't make it in. Half of the crowd wasloosing there minds through out the whole set (i have no idea how people survive this moshing ritual) screaming EVERY word. Its safe to say that Architects KILLED IT."

Since the release of their mini-album, ‘The North Stands For Nothing’, in the summer of 2010, While She Sleeps have been on a trailblazing path that has seen them become one of the fastest rising bands on the UK hard rock and metal circuits for some years. From a sold out headline tour, their tent-swelling set at last year’s Sonisphere festival, venues on this year’s prestigious Kerrang! tour having queues of people snaked around the block so that fans could get in to see Sleeps open the bill, and regular plays on Radio 1, Scuzz and Kerrang! TV, the Sheffield natives have rapidly and justifiably become one of the highest regarded rock bands in Britain.

Drummer Adam Savage recalls his 2012 Slam Dunk experience: "Second time sleeps have played slamdunk, this time was way better. The line up was awesome and we got a really good reaction from the crowd. First time playing with every time I die and cancer bats... They smashed it. Got to watch architects there new album is awesome and the crowd went mental for them. All round amazing weekend getting fucked in the sun, playing shows with my dudes!"
