Dub Pistols Offer Free Download Of New Single 'Alive' - Listen Now

The Dub Pistols are celebrating the launch of their fanastic new album 'Worshipping The Dollar', out on 2nd July through Sunday Best Recordings, with a free download of their single 'Alive', taken from their new AA side single 'Alive/ Mucky Weekend', out 25th June, also out through Sunday Best Recordings.

Taken from the Dub Pistols impending fifth album ‘Worshipping The Dollar’, comes standout track ‘Alive’ featuring reggae legend Red Star Lion and the very radio-unfriendly yet hilarious DNB monster ‘Mucky Weekend’ with Rodney P. Remixes of ‘Alive’ come from Hackman, Urban Knights and Sunday Best along with Instrumental versions of both.

From their early beginnings as a soundsystem project, Dub Pistols have grown into a party-rocking live band that ignites festivals and venues. Their infectious blend of ska, dub, hip-hop, electronic music and punk has won them many fans around the globe over the past 15 years and, following sold-out shows across Europe, they were justifiably voted the Best Live Act at DJ Mag’s Best Of British Awards at the end of 2011.

Barry Ashworth and his motley crew created their latest long-player in between gigs every weekend following the release of acclaimed 2009 album ‘Rum & Coke’. ‘Worshipping The Dollar’ sees a return to lyrical themes explored on earlier albums with deeper and more conscious lyrics and a pacier feel to the tracks, which mirrors their increasingly frenetic live shows.

Dub Pistols - Worshipping The Dollar (Album Review)

It was only back in 2008 that if you heard the word “dub” dropped in to a conversation about music that you could still expect it to evoke connotations of reggae and splashes of brass, bass and Jamaican accents. But four years later and the takeover of dub step, has all but eradicated the original meaning of the word “dub” from the consciousness of anyone who wasn’t already keen on the sub-genre.
