Bobby Womack Announces Second Date At London Forum

Due to overwhelming demand, Bobby Womack has announced that he’ll be playing a second night at The Forum in London. The singer, joined by special guests Damon Albarn and Richard Russell, will be playing both November 25th and 27th.

Last week, Bobby Womack was awarded the prestigious ‘Album of the Year‘ at the Q awards for 'The Bravest Man In The Universe'. The album, his first in two decades, saw Damon Albarn and Richard Russell on production duties, and was released to widespread acclaim in June on XL Recordings.

Following a period of ill health that prevented him doing any promotion for the album, this was the second trip to the UK this month for the now sprightly Womack. His earlier visit being part of a run of TV performances that included Jimmy Fallon in the US, Later with Jools in the UK, and Le Grand Journal in France. Bobby's performance of his 'Dayglo Reflection' duet with Lana Del Rey on the latter, saw the 'Bravest Man…' album immediately propelled to Number 2 on iTunes France.

Bobby Womack 2012 UK Live Dates are as follows:

Nov 25th - London Forum
Nov 27th - London Forum - NEW DATE

You wouldn’t expect a country artist named Outlaw to follow a conventional trajectory, would you? He’s a former business high-flyer who didn’t become a professional musician until he’d turned 30. He's a singer-songwriter who, in spite of being inspired by the greats, didn’t fall in love with country until his early 20s. And he resides in Los Angeles, not Nashville. This is the story of Sam Outlaw, a neo-traditional troubadour whose melancholy SoCal sound belies his rebellious moniker.

It’s not always the case that a cover version tells us something about the artist performing it. Sometimes they barely register as an empty gesture. But Julien Baker’s take on Badlands - recorded live at the Newport Folk Festival last summer - is a perfect exception.
