David Byrne is a Scottish-American singer-songwriter and musician perhaps best known for his time as the frontman of Talking Heads. Born in Dumbarton in 1952, he would move to Canada with his parents aged 2, before relocating to Arbutus, Maryland a few years later, a place that would become his home.
Interested in music from a young age, he would become a part of a number of bands in his youth, but would go on to form Talking Heads in the summer of 1975, with the group's stint (which ended in 1991) earning them a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Also frequently working as a solo artist (as well as in all kinds of other media formats, from opera to photography), David Byrne owns a discography that stretches far and features frequent collaborations with Brian Eno amongst others.
Known for his distinct voice, Byrne continues to perform today, and will play both US shows in March 2018 and a UK tour in June, supporting his upcoming new record, 'American Utopia', which saw release on March 9 through Todomundo/Nonesuch Records.
He's now also confirmed a load of dates for the American Utopia World Tour, with dates scheduled for the UK, the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Catch him live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
David Byrne is feeling buoyant. Despite all that is wrong with the world (and the USA in particular), he is choosing to answer it with relentless positivity. The title ‘American Utopia’ isn’t exactly tongue in cheek; Byrne is clearly not happy about the way things are going but is certain that we can get to the bottom of the problem.
