John Wilson is a conductor and arranger from Gateshead.
Studying at the Royal College of Music, where he won the Tagore Gold Medal for outstanding academic excellence, he is today perhaps best known for being the principal conductor of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, he started his career as a conductor, as well as arranging and orchestrating scores for television and film, such as BBC’s Gormenghast and Beyond The Sea. Also recognised for his work with MGM musicals, his orchestra has performed several times at the BBC Proms. Great to listen to live music and introduce a young audience
Brighton dome on November 7 2015
Have seen every concert at the Dome in Brighton, worth every penny. Took my Mum and Dad, they were bowled over. Its great to see high profile artists locally, as my Mums disabled and finds it hard to travel to London.Keep coming to Brighton John!!!
Please do another concert in 2016. We all look forward to a night of fantastic entertainment, for young and old alike.

Total quality as ever! Orchestra on top form, great choice of numbers, some well-known, a few less often heard. Matthew Ford and Louise Dearman were perfect. So many highlights but stunning unaccompanied singing from Louise in the encore and in the amazing orchestral part of "Shall we dance?" we could picture Fred Astaire dancing. In the rendition of "s'Wonderful " from An American in Paris, Matthew was so true to the Gene Kelly original (but with a better singing voice) and the orchestration was exactly as in the film. John Wilson is a genius. This time we sat at the side of the auditorium where we could see the conductor's face as well as the orchestra and soloists. Watching John conduct is inspirational. We need to go to the concert again as it was impossible to see all we wanted to concentrate on at the same time. All the musicians are are worth watching individually as they are all top class. A revelation to hear the brilliance of the pianist playing the New York Symphony. A great atmosphere as everyone was a John Wilson aficionado. A wonderful treat from start to finish!
