Johnny Flynn is a singer-songwriter and actor, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, but now based in the UK, and Robert MacFarlane is a writer and professor from Nottinghamshire.
Flynn is an acclaimed musician, and has released six studio albums to date, but is also recognised for his work as an actor, he is perhaps best known for portraying David Bowie in the 2020 biopic Stardust, as well as appearing alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in Emma and Colin Firth in Operation Mincemeat. He also starred in Channel 4/Netflix sitcom Lovesick throughout its four-year run. MacFarlane is best known for his books on landscape, nature, place, people and language, for which he has been honoured with many awards and accolades. He has also collaborated with a number of musicians, including Frank Turner, The Memory Band and Karine Polwart. The pair met after having both been inspired by each other's respective works, and released their first album, 'Lost In The Cedar Wood', in 2021.
