Born and raised on the Westman Islands off the south coast of Iceland, Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson has been releasing music under the moniker of Júníus Meyvant since 2014. Unnar was brought up in a musical and religious household in Heimaey, the island’s microscopic population (a mere four thousand people) and wild, rugged nature was a great playground for him to thrive.
Under the moniker Júníus Meyvant, he released his debut single Colour Decay in 2014, to critical praise. Júníus went on to received ‘Best Single’ and ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the Icelandic Music Awards, marking him as a important new talent amidst the Icelandic music scene.
His first full length 'Floating Harmonies' dropped in 2016, and his latest, 'Across The Borders' is due for release in November 2019.
Júníus Meyvant has announced details of an extensive European tour to support the record, with a UK leg hitting London, Manchester and Bristol in February. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
